Instead of setting the static IP on your Xbox how about making the router assign a static IP using the MAC address. This is done on the router side and you can leave the Xbox to automatic. It will recognize the Xbox mac and assign whatever IP you have given it. And you can continue the port forwarding/triggering as usual. Should work.
